PUSH Receives its first New Works award from the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation
PUSH Dance Company has received a New Works award to support the creation of Raissa Simpson’s EMME YA: Expedition
The mission of the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation is to honor the legacy of its founder in celebrating the inimitable creative spirit of the Bay Area by supporting local working artists and the organizations that help to promote and sustain their artistic practice.
“With the timely support of the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation, we will be able to continue our creation of innovative dance works during the pandemic. EMME YA: Expedition is our ode, our love story, and our hope for the future. We’re grateful at this time to be able to continue our research and production of artistic works and to explore Afrofuturism,” says artistic director Raissa Simpson
