Description: The 3D repertory and performance workshop will allow students to cultivate a wide range of the Push Dance Company movement vocabulary derived from sources including but not limited to post-modern practices using ballet, modern, structured improvisation and contemporary. Students who wish to perform will bring their technical toolbox to participate in a dynamic creative process and to perform in a 3D multimedia premiere over the 2012 Memorial Day Weekend. This modern workshop increases the curiosity for collaboration, while building kinesthetic awareness to site-specific and multimedia performance.

For Students Who Wish to Perform
in Push Dance Company’s site-specific 3D multimedia show in May 2012:
Thursday, May 24th - Technical Rehearsal at the Site
Friday, May 25- Sunday, May 27, 2012 - SHOWS

Raissa Simpson has an extensive performance career in the Bay Area. She received a BFA from Purchase College Dance Conservatory at SUNY on talent-based scholarship, subsequently attending the schools of Dance Theatre of Harlem, Paul Taylor School, among others. She has toured and performed with Robert Moses Kin (2002-2007) and Joanna Haigood’s Zaccho Dance Theatre (2007-Present). Articulating details through the whole body, she is a commissioned artist whose work gains a deeper understanding of challenges of mixed heritage by using non-traditional dance forms. Edgy, sleek, and sexy, Push generates a fresh perspective from intermingling diverse dancers in raw situations- aptly described by Rita Felciano of the San Francisco Bay Guardian as “emotional and kinetic changes.”

"Simpson reinvents classical ballet and modern dance aesthetics with a sleek and sexy edge. Ultimately, her sleek style transcends confining categories." -SF Guardian
